Neighborhood Resource Sharing Project

Maple Hill is a ridge that runs on a north-east to south-west axis just outside of the village of Plainfield in central Vermont. As a geographic characteristic, Maple Hill establishes a distinct neighborhood area along the boundary line between Plainfield and Marshfield.

In recent years, a loosely organized group of neighbors on Maple Hill has been meeting to discuss ways of identifying and addressing neighborhood sustainability. Starting with a simple objective of exploring at ways to keep open fields from reforesting through the use of grazing animals, the discussion has grown to include general food security, resource sharing and emergency response options.

Elmhill has maintained an active role in these discussions and recognizes this initiative as aligned to its mission in the community.
